I have the most up to date version of Windows 10 on my laptop (build 2004) so thought I would try installing an older version to see if that was the issue. Now I have previously used BMW scanner 1.4.0 and found it easy to install and use but for the life of me I couldn't get it to work on my laptop. I have spent hours over the last 2 days trying to disable it and thought I would post my findings as they may be useful to others. I jump started it a few days ago but found the car to be in the dreaded transport mode. Well with the current lockdown my car hasn't been used recently and I found the battery flat a few days ago. When this happens the rear window demister doesn't work and the blower fan only operates at a very slow speed. Unfortunately the E85/86 cars can go into transport mode when the battery goes flat. For those unaware, transport mode is where certain things do not work in order to preserve the battery before being sold when new. When I first bought my Z4 (E86) it was in transport mode and I had to take it to a friendly specialist who deactivated for me.
